ALONG AND RADZIB

They are brothers but do not look alike. See how intimate they are. Don't think negatively.... They do things together but sleep in different room. This photo remind me the "Jejak Kasih" program at TV3.
Along (on your left) is not the cruel "chetty" in Malaysia. He is indeed rich but never be a loan shark. He lives decent life but he is so passionate with mini cars and collect the items at home. Being one of the senior at MT, I love to talk to him about his past experiences. There are many tips that you can get from him. I remember his story about doing survey in the jungle with the communist army around him and friend. I suggest he write a book to share his experiences in the past. If you see a convoy of mini cars in Malaysia, do not hesitate to stop and look after him. I guess he is an honorable member of the mini club. I believe he is retiring and finishing his bungalow house. He is also concentrating to make up the lost time with his lovely wife and family. For those who doesn't know him, he is a "civil"ize man at the MT. He is a good karaoke singer too. He sings rock song..... I mean it. Does he look like rocker???
Radzib, he is a very nice guy. He didn't talk much. May be he can speak English and Javanese only. He can be good communication partner to AB. Very handy person and love to help others in many ways. I have been informed that he is a millionaire. His job at MT is only a part time job and he does business at home. He can sell anything under the sun from refurbish hand phone, printed T-shirt, koka wood etc to the Sudanese. He only collect USD. Masyaallah, good business maa... One thing special about both guys, their picture always printed in the "Hari Raya Salam Perantauan" column in Malaysian newspaper. In fact they didn't spend Hari Raya overseas!!!!! I guess they use "Electronic Susuk" to attract the newspaper and others. He is a damn good karaoke singer and his favorite songs are from Alleycat album. His voice close to Logan. Did I spell the name right? I miss his voice... "Sampaikan Salam Rinduku Padanya" Terima Kaseeeeeeeh.
Masalama.

FUTURE PRESIDENT OF FISHERMAN CLUB

This young gentleman is climbing up the corporate ladder so fast and will be the future President of Fisherman Club, Port Sudan chapter. I have been told that the current President (Ripin) will relinquish his post when he demobilize from this location (That's what he think maaa... Allah knows what best for him). He "tombak" many pari-pari and octopus. For sure, in front of my own eyes, he "tombak" octopus at Gudang Garam beach. Sometimes, you cannot trust pictures because the fishermen like to take photograph of other people catch. You need to check with the club for confirmation. But I know this gentleman a damn genuine and good fisherman. He is a good swimmer too and one of the candidates to attend the Beijing Olympic game next year if the lady "datuk" sponsor him lah...

Tuan, you need to study the project Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report and make sure your catch does not exceed the allowable limit. You need to keep some fish for future generation especially new migrant from Malaysia. You may be jailed undress for 10 years or pay 1 million pound or both. For your information, food is not supplied at the local prison. Please bare in mind you are a damn good instrumentalist but not environmentalist.

SUDAN VERSION OF BOB MARLEY

Srun, who is the singer next to you. Bob Marley from Jamaica? But this photo was taken a year ago at MT, during the first oil celebration. You must be admiring him, I guess. Can I borrow the album? I never heard you sing his song nor listening to it. What happen?
I guess you like Arabic Reggei, don't you. Don't be shy lahh, tell us the truth!!! You share common hobby with Zulkifly.....No other persons like both you. You are different guys!!!!

NIGHT SHOW

All eyes are looking at this veteran singer. He makes others sit on the chairs for hours. His favourite songs are Mawar Beduri and songs from Broery Marantica, a famous Indonesian singer in the 70's. It reminds me of the old days when I was a kid.
Nobody has ever challenge his Broery style singing and never will. Marvelous show almost every night. I guess that's how he expresses his feeling of being away from the beloved one, his wife. Others also feel the same when he starts singing.

EAT, PLAY AND WORK TOGETHER

They eat, play and work together. A small community that united with common purpose and goal. They are feed with lobster two or three times a week. The luxury time has passed and no longer a norm now. For the pass many months, they have to fish and "tombak" pari to supplement degrading food quality. Alhamdulillah, they are surviving and in fact far better off than most of the people on this continent. Like I said earlier, they have made enormous sacrifices of the betterment of this beloved country, company and family at home. No other words can describe my beloved countrymen.

WHAT WILL BE MY FUTURE

This photo was taken approximately a year ago. These two buddies were caught discussing about their preferred future and the escape plan out of MT. This occasion was after the first oil. Look how sad they were at the time. I can feel it in my heart....
Sadly to say, they are still here thinking how to escape from the three corner fence and what they like their future to be. I believe they are thinking of nice and comfort place to live like Malaysia. Eat roti canai, mee goreng mamak, rempit, chat face to face with the wife and play with the kids. The dream never realised. Why????? That's a million dollar question. Why are they and few others are still stuck here? Anybody would like to give any idea is welcomed.
Allah knows better. It is beyond our capability as His beloved servant. At least one of them has seen the light at the end of tunnel.
To both, thanks for sharing the photo and momment with me.

SHISHA SESSION

These two gentlemen are the key shisha supplier and smoker. Nobody ever take over their role so far. The shisha session normally starts at 9 pm outside the galley and could last until midnight or beyond. That's why these guys loosing weight. I guess this is their loss weight program. Nevertheless, this is part of the activities to fill up the free time at MT. These are good guys. They don't mess around doing unlawfull activities. Their wives should be proud of them. I guarantee that.....

MUSSAFIR DI JALANAN

This photo make me recall the old days when I was a student. That's how we record our journey for future remembrance and to justify to others our presence at any famous location. I guess this is what these gentlemen have in mind. If anybody challenge your presence in Sudan, we will prove it to them, guys. You can make reference to any one of us.
These guys risking their life by standing at the roadside. Never do that again!!!! Just joking. When can we drive to Kasala and Khartoum? It must be very scenic journey.
The Dubai guy need a little more smile to make the photo perfect.... I know your face is facing the sun and the temperature is unbearable. Am I right? Wonderful background!!!!

ONE YEAR AGO AT MT

These are the gentlemen that are brave and dare enough to leave the comfort zone and the love ones in their land of birth to assist this country to extract and export the valuable black gold. They don't look at $ sign but taking advantage of the cultural experiences, exerting good deeds to mankind and pushing their adaptabilty to the environment and cultural differences to the upper most limit. Their mission is not technically difficult but full with challenges. Shouting, screaming, anger, frustration, depression and you name it are part of the daily vocabulary during critical schedule recovery period. We can write a thicker book than Harry Potter to describe the challenges. In honouring the team, we pay salute and artillery shots to these young men and senior for their professionalism, cohesiveness, teamwork and patient during these days. In this coming Merdeka Day, 31st August 2007, we will make remembrance to all with "doa". May Allah bless all of us. Amin.

The man with integrity

What is this gentleman doing? Load test? This is one of my favourite photos that was recorded during this year Eid Adha. I don't know what is the allowable load of the donkey legs.
This gentleman is the longest and the best serving voluntary chef ever at PS. His passion to cooking make the life at the camp very lively. Friends will wait for his serving while singing karaoke at the galley during late night hours. He is like "Chef Wan" to us. If anybody recruit him for any project, the person will get 2 in 1 services. His room is liked an oriental food store where you can find great eastern spices and supplies. If he goes for R&R, friends may starving and start looking for a back-up chef. I suggest him to write a cooking book. May Allah bless you for the very significant deeds.
He is also a damn good karaoke singer. We can't hear the sound of "cengkerik" during mid-night hours. This person is really multi-skills.

Cooling Off During Hot Summer Season

These gentlemen are not truck drivers. They are young professionals cooling off after hard work during the hot summer season. Temperature as high as 47 degree celcius has been recorded at Red Sea this year. It can melt your ice cream matter of seconds.
They are good swimmers with the passion to swim to and from the crude tanker Single Point Mooring approximately 2 km away from the beach. I wish they can make it during this coming Merdeka Day. Let show the local Sudanese that "Malaysia Boleh". Don't worry, no big shark lah...

Super chef

This gentleman is a damn best cook in Sudan. His passion is unbelievable and he cook very sincerely. His friends at PS dream his cook and always expecting he makes a trip to the Red Sea. We can't find dunkin donut at Sudan and he makes our dream come true.

His apartment at Khartoum is a place where we "the nomad from PS" will stop by for dinner and breakfast while transit to or from Malaysia. Never complaint and always smile with open heart. May Allah bless your kindness, Tuan Zack.

If I go to North Sea or other places, do you want to follow me.... He he he. Try to offer opportunity NOT taking advantage lah.

Fishing Team

This is damn real. These guys are passionate with "tombak" pari. The tools are handmade from high tensile reinforcement bar and heavy. The impact load when it reach any pari is unbelieveable. The "tombak" will pass through the heart of any size of fish!!!!!
Look like they are fanatic fisherman but you can interpret that way. I don't have the record of number of fish they have caught but I can count with my finger. May be they have cooked it without my knowledge!!!!! Arifin keep the reliable record...
I suggest they conduct community service at nearby "kampung". Teach the local "satu produk satu kampung" like fishing and making "ikan masin". Hamizan may teach how to make "budu" so that he don't have to pack "budu" in his luggage everytime leaving for PS.

Passion To Food

His passion to food is remarkably wellknown at Red Sea. The picture tells thousand words. His passion motivates the chefs to cook late night dinner everyday. He is a damn good Commissioning Director ever exist along the Red Sea coast. A good kareoke singer too. Never free his handphone from calling the love one at home.
We miss his special "10 am maggie" very much and the most is "ayam goreng berempah". He never had a chance to cook the "ayam" until he left the Red Sea. Not many people are aware that he has a remarkable talent as car salesman. Ask him how many car he has currently? He has trained many new professional and amature swimmers at PS but forgotten to certify them.
He loves Sudan but failed many attempts to accept the cultural differences. I suggest he stay a little longer to overcome the shortcoming. When are you coming back to PS, brilliant young man?

Pari-Pari

The best ever fishermen at Port Sudan so far. He has dedicated his free time just to ensure his friends are served with fresh seafood most of the time. He is damn good when it come to "tombak" pari. Nobody can challenge his accuracy...

Keep up the good work..Pin. Bersukan memancing dan beramal. Why less fish lately? Our survival is very much depending on you..
